Firstly, I would like to share my experience about how I started with Cyber Security. I started my cybersecurity journey by exploring google and found HackTheBox hacking platform, which is similar to TryHackMe, but at that time, HackTheBox had only vulnerable machines. So, I started with the starting point machine in HackTheBox and did not understand anything. I saw some YouTube videos on that starting point machine, but it had no use. I then realized that  I don't even have the basic knowledge related to Cyber Security. So I left that platform because it's not beginner-friendly and then searched for platforms similar to that. Then I found TryHackMe.

What is TryHackMe?

TryHackMe is a free online platform for learning cybersecurity, using hands-on exercises and labs, all through your browser!

TryHackme is very beginner-friendly. Even a person who doesn't know anything related to Cyber Security can also learn everything easily. TryHackMe has both CTF challenges and Walkthroughs. An intermediate can directly jump into CTF challenges, while a beginner needs to start with the Walkthroughs. The interesting thing is that TryHackme has Learning paths.

What is a Learning Path?

A learning path is a structural guide that helps in your learning process. What makes the learning path so easy is that it is organized priorly based on the level of our learning.

For a beginner, I recommend completing the "Complete beginner" path first.

Upon all the benefits TryHackMe already has, it freshly added an awesome path called  " Pre-Security Path. "

For every path, TryHackMe provides the Certificate of Completion. I completed this path on 12th July of 2021 and got my Certificate Of Completion.

Now I will be reviewing this path,

In this path, we will be learning about Cyber Security basics, Networking basics and weaknesses, The web and common attacks, and finally, learn to use the Operating systems like Linux and Windows. This path comes with 4 modules.

The interesting thing is that this path has practical sessions for every topic we learn, which helps us retain and reapply our knowledge in real-life scenarios. Every beginner will definitely love to learn in this way because it's easy to understand.

I would not like to spoil your enthusiasm, and thus, I will roughly brief you about the modules. I would recommend you trying it on your own.

Cyber Security Introduction:

This module contains one room, and we will learn why we should learn the technical fundamentals that are important to succeed in our Cyber Security learning journey.

Network Fundamentals:

This module contains 5 rooms in which we will learn all the core concepts of how computers communicate with each other and types of networks and weaknesses.

How The Web Works:

This Module contains a total of 4 rooms in which you will learn about how the Web works in detail.

Linux Fundamentals:

This Module contains 3 rooms in which we will learn about how to use the Linux Operating system and the basics of Linux.

Windows Fundamentals:

This Module contains a total of 2 rooms. We will learn how to use the Windows Operating system and the basics that help us identify, exploit, and defend Windows.

Conclusion:

By completing this path, we also earn tickets that are also further redeemable.
